2008 Boys on the road to Lucan Sars Stardom!

March 24, 2015

It’s been a very proud few weeks for the parents and mentors of the 2008 boys, who are the eldest of the current boys in the LDCU Academy.

The opportunity arose recently for them to show off the skills they have been developing and on March 7th, they played a football blitz against Celbridge GAA club and on March 21st, they went to Templeogue to St Judes to play a hurling blitz.

Over 50 boys attended on each occasion and took to the field with great enthusiasm. They showed off some great skill in Gaelic games as well as their sportsmanship and team spirit.

Celbridge was the first match for many of these boys, but there were no nerves showing. They gave 100% at all times (particularly after scoring!), demonstrated some lovely football and did Lucan very proud at their great results.

It was a far tighter affair in the hurling at St Judes and while Lucan dominated in some of the matches, in others, the boys really had to pull out everything they had, but they battled on and it was brilliant to see all the skills they could come up with when challenged.

A big thank you to both Celbridge and St Judes for the enjoyable trip the boys had, to the parents and mentors of the Lucan boys for the support and to the boys themselves for all their work in the first of many matches ahead for these future stars.
