Lucan Sarsfields GAA Club Notes

March 13, 2023

Team News

A big congratulations to Abby Sheils and DCU on their Yoplait HEC O’Connor Cup final victory, their first since 2018

Poor weather saw a lot of games cancelled this week leaving us a scarcity of news in what was proving to be an exciting start to Sarsfields season at all levels. This left a good segway for promotion of the White Collar Fight Night our big event to raise funds to support development at the club and have the pitches and facilities available in all weather conditions.

The event is on April 29th in the Big Top in the overflow car park. We are delighted to offer full and half page advertisement space in our event programme to our local businesses. Please don’t hesitate to contact our fundraising team by email @ lucansarsfields.fundraising@gmail.com to reserve your space.

Juvenile/Coiste na nÓg

U15A Camogie

Round 2 of the U15 Camogie League saw the team Travel out to Na Fianna. On a very wet cold day, the game was played on the all-weather pitch in St Pats College Drumcondra. With both teams giving it their all, in harsh conditions , Na Fianna where out of the blocks first with a couple of points, Lucan responded with a point followed by a well worked and taken goal. Na Fianna replied with a goal of their own and another point. Lucan finished the half with another score and the Halftime score line of Lucan Sarsfields 1-2 to Na Fianna 1-3.

Second half, Lucan Sarsfields where first out of the traps winning the throw in, working the ball down the field and pointing straight away. Moments later Lucan Sarsfields burst through the Na Fianna defence and struck the ball at goal which blazed just wide. Lucan Sarsfields continued to put pressure on the Na Fianna defence and came close to raising a green flag. With great teamwork from the forwards they began to get their rewards and racked up a few goals. Na Fianna never gave up and continued to attack but were met with great defensive efforts to hold them scoreless in the second half. Lucan Sarsfields came away with a well-deserved win 1-3 to 6-3.

Panel: Kate Lynch , Tara Montgomery, Niamh O’Brien, Caoileann Sharkey, Kate Kennedy, Cara Coffey, Ciara Hylands, Juliette Hartford, Sadhbh Lynch, Eva Collis, Reka Kiss Kalló, Sophie Carberry, Millie Ryan, Ellen Eakins, Olivia Byrne, Aoibhinn Murray, Chloe Newman, Aoife Murphy, Orla Dunne.

Social News & Events

Membership

Membership for 2023 is now open

Our number 1 priority is player welfare and we’d like to remind parents and adult players that players need to be registered and paid members of the club in order to be covered by insurance. This includes training and challenge matches as well as official club games. Any unregistered players that train or play matches are doing so at their own risk and accepting that they will cover any medical costs that may result from injuries.

Just a couple of points when doing membership this year:

  • As per club rules, all managers/mentors/coaches must be full members. Juvenile membership only includes Social membership which is not suitable for this role. All Family membership options include full adult memberships
  • If you have moved address since your last registration, or changed email can you please ensure that the correct details are entered on this year’s application.
  • There is an option to pay membership over 6 months via debit/credit card and this can be selected at the end of the process
  • If you are unsure which option to select or what option are best value for money you can drop a mail to lucan.sarsfields.registrar@gmail.com

Finally, if anyone has any issues or challenges with membership you can contact me in 100% confidence at lucan.sarsfields.registrar@gmail.com and we will work together to sort something out

with thanks

John Cosgrove, Lucan Sarsfield’s Registrar
