Football Championship Update

Disappointment for our Senior Footballers this year as they fell short of the 7 point win required against Whitehall Colmcille to make it out of their group. This is a young team who can learn from this year’s championship and return stronger next year.

The Inters had a 3-08 to 1-08 win, in monsoon conditions no less, over St Brigids to book their place in the quarter-finals. Opposition TBC. The Junior As had to await confirmation from the Country Board having lost their final group game by a point. Despite St. Annes' win, the Junior As are through to the quarter-finals as three teams all finished level of points. Final Ravens await in the QFs.

The Junior Bs had a strong 2-15 to 0-7 over St Brendans to ensure that they top the group. A quarter-final against Naomh Mearnog is their reward!

The Junior Cs lost out to Templogue Synge Street and unfortunately didn't make it out of the so called "Group of Death". Time for next year’s preparations to begin.

Camogie Championship Update

Senior camogie have their last group game this Sunday at home to Plunketts in a must win game having drawn to Judes and lost to St.Vincents

Inters are away to St. Maurs in their final group game. Lucan are through to the semi's regardless but the game against Maurs decides who tops the group.

Junior 3 are into the semi-final on 13th against Cuala, Junior 4 are into the shield final (fixture TBC) and junior 6 are through to the semi-final at home on the 8th against Na Gael Oige.

All to play for in the camogie section with lots of exciting games to be played so all the support we can give would be appreciated.

Juvenile camogie has restarted after the summer break and the girls are excelling in terms of determination, skills and teamwork.

U11 Camogie

Our U11 girls camogie teams travelled to Clontarf on a very wet Saturday afternoon to play their first camogie game after the summer break. Even though the weather was poor it didn't seem to bother our girls and they played some fantastic camogie against a very evenly matched Clontarf side. As always we received a lovely welcome from all in Clontarf. We had great displays of teamwork, determination, good communication and improved skill. Well done girls. We now look forward to our next match at home to St Brigid's

U10 Football

As well as playing our usual Go-Game fixtures, a squad of U10 footballers also participated in the Celbridge Festival on Saturday. Despite the heavy rain, the blitz was a massive success. In the group stage, we played Kilmurray Ibrickan from Clare, the hosts Celbridge and Donaghmore Ashbourne from Meath. All games were extremely competitive and there was only ever a score between the teams. In the playoff game, we were pipped by a very good Blessington team.

The blitz provided an opportunity for us to catch up with our former player Dylan Cryan and his father (former 2012 boys mentor Davy) who were there as part of the Tulsk Lord Edwards squad. It was great to see them again, and Dylan was showing off his silky skills developed in our academy.

Thanks to all the parents who brought and set up camping equipment to keep us dry and enough food to keep us fed. There was a real festival atmosphere; more than one of us thought we were at the Electric Picnic. We were very proud of how the boys represented the club and they showed great courage, character and skills. Hopefully, they will take a lot from the experience

Thanks to all in Celbridge GAA for making us feel so welcome, and for organising such a brilliant event. There are a lot of boys from around the country who will never forget this day.

Lucan Squad: Cillian Forde, Daire Jones, Fionn Jones, James Cunningham, Jamie McCarthy, Kealan Carley, Leo Fitzgerald, Liam Whelan, Noah Buck, Ross O'Carroll, Ryan Breslin, Ryan Myler, Seamus Moriarty, Rhys Henvey, Daniel Breen

Thanks

Thanks so much to John Hodgkinson who recently stepped down from his role of boys referee co-ordinator. The Club has grown during John's tenure to where we are now fielding 27 Juvenile hurling teams from U12 down and 29 Juvenile football teams from U12 down. To have successfully managed the weekly allocation of referees for these teams year after year is a huge tribute to John's hard work. Our sincere thanks to John for his dedication and commitment. Stepping into John's shoes will be Colm McSweeney who is involved in several Juvenile teams including being one of the U12 boys lead mentors. We wish to thanks Colm for taking on this role.
