Lucan Sarsfields GAA Club Notes

May 27, 2021

Lucan Sarsfields GAA Club is taking part in Run4Pieta 2021. Pieta first opened its doors in Lucan, County Dublin in 2006. Since then they have seen and helped over 65,000 people in suicidal distress or engaging in self-harm. Pieta provide free counselling to those with suicidal ideation, those engaging in self-harm, and those bereaved by suicide. Staff are fully qualified and provide a professional one-to-one therapeutic service.

In 2020 Run 4 Pieta created a real sense of togetherness amongst the GAA community, whilst raising much needed funds for Pieta. The last 12 months have been very challenging for all of society including our sports clubs, which provide such an important outlet for everyone involved. Starting at 6pm on Friday 18th June, Lucan Sarsfields GAA Club members, will walk, run or cycle for 48 hours consecutively, until 6pm on Sunday 20th June.

100% of funds raised will go directly to Pieta

Walk to Keep Well

On Wednesday evening Emer Keenan and Claire Rigney from Senior Camogie came and helped out with U13 Camogie training.

They demonstrated some skills and took part in the drills and were  full of encouragement for the girls and provided them with excellent tips.

Our sympathies to the Coleman family on the death of former Lucan Sarsfields minor hurling mentor, Willie. He was on the management team of the clubs first ever Minor A Hurling Championship victory in 2005. His son Garry is a former member of the club who until very recently played hurling for the club at all grades. Garry was also a member of that minor hurling team. May he rest in peace.
