February 24, 2021

Coaching Forum

At 6:30pm on Friday 26th we are hosting a coaches forum facilitated by Club GPO David Moran. This will be a VERY informal event for mentors within our club with no preset agenda. Registration in advance is required and closes at 3pm on Friday. Click Here

Club Membership

Club Members are reminded that membership for 2021 is now due. We expect that training and games will resume very quickly when restrictions are lifted, and to make sure that all our mentors and players are covered by the insurance schemes, we need to register everyone on the new Foireann system, and this can only be done when membership is renewed/taken out. For all queries regarding membership, please contact lucan.sarsfields.registrar@gmail.com.

As we will be using the ClubForce App to manage our return-to-play questionnaires and for attendance tracking, all members are urged to download the app from the Google Play or Apple App store. Sign in using the same username and password that you use to renew your membership and make Lucan Sarsfields GAA your favourite club!

Dub Health Week 2021 takes place from March 1st to March 5th

We will hear from speakers across the week via live webinars on topics including "Staying Motivated in 2021", inclusivity, volunteering and social rounders.

Be Ready To Play

The Gaelic Games family have launched ‘Be Ready to Play’, a Coaching and Sport Science programme in association with UPMC, official healthcare partner of the GAA and GPA, that will be delivered via webinars, website programmes, instructional videos and live online sessions. The programme is a holistic coaching and performance plan that will be of great benefit to all club coaches and players, male, female, adult, and youth alike. It will help them return to training post-COVID-19 in a way that will hopefully increase enjoyment, performance, and participation, while simultaneously reducing the risk of injury. Full details here

Remote Training Guidelines

A revised Guidance for Online Coaching of Children has been agreed following consultation with statutory authorities, parents, coaches and the Gaelic Games Associations. The Guidance will assist all clubs who wish to deliver online coaching sessions whether it is for nursery level or up to Minor level or as part of a skills challenge competition or a charity event. Ireland Reads

Libraries have partnered with booksellers, publishers and other organisations with an aim to get the whole country reading this month in the lead up to a national day of reading on Thursday, February 25th. Taking some time to relax and do the things we enjoy has never been more important and reading is a great way to get a sense of escape and boost wellbeing. You’ll find all the details at www.irelandreads.ie where you can; •Pledge to read on Ireland Reads Day, February 25th •Get some reading inspiration – simply enter the type of book you like best, how long you have available to read each day and the website will suggest the perfect book and tell you how long it will take to read it.

Getting Ireland’s Adults COVID-Vaccination Ready

The Irish Gerontological Society held a public lecture last Wednesday the 17th of February in an aim to boost uptake and increase the efficacy of the HSE COVID-19 vaccine rollout. They are asking that people spread the word about this event among older family members, friends and networks which is available to view here: COVID Vaccination Ready | Irish Gerontological Society (irishgerontology.com)

Bereavements: Our condolences to the Flanagan family on the death of Carmel (née Tierney), mother in law of Jackie (adult camogie management team), grandmother of Emma & Rebecca (adult camogie and ladies football), and Alan (adult hurling).
