Lucan Sarsfields GAA Club Notes - Extra!

February 18, 2021

Club President

We are delighted to announce that Kathleen Roche has agreed to continue to serve Lucan Sarsfields as Club President during 2021.

With 2020 behind us we hope that 2021 will allow Kathleen much more opportunities to represent us proudly as she has done over many years as a leader of many fundraising initiatives.

Membership

At this time of year, we would have been expecting to be in full flow with training and matches but 2021 has started with a continued lockdown so we have not been able to get together for anything yet, but, hopefully the end of the current lockdown is in sight.

We do expect to be able to start very quickly once we move from Level 5 but before we can start we have to make sure that everyone is covered by insurance to avoid extra costs due to an accident while training/playing. In order to be covered by insurance all players and mentors must be registered on GAA for 2021 and we can only do this once you have paid your membership with Lucan Sarsfields. The first check that is carried out when an insurance claim is submitted is that membership is up to date and if not the claim will not be honoured. Players/Mentors will not be able to take part in training if membership is not paid.

To pay your membership please go to http://www.lucansarsfields.ie/content_page/370673/ and follow links on the page. Please use your email address you used last year when registering so that we can continue your membership details from previous year. If you are unsure of your email or need to amend your email please contact lucan.sarsfields.registrar@gmail.com and we will get it sorted. We have an option of 6 monthly payments available until the end of March so if you would like to avail of this option please complete your membership soon.

Finally, if you have any questions or would like to discuss alternative options for membership please contact lucan.sarsfields.registrar@gmail.com in confidence

Thanks, John CosgroveLucan Sarsfields Registrar
Appeal for new Referees at Adult and Minor levels.

A Chara,

The following is a joint request for new Referees issued on behalf of the County Referees Committee (Coiste an Réiteoirí) and the CCC. I would be grateful if you would circulate it amongst your Club Membership please.

As you are aware, in anticipation of the lifting of current Covid restrictions, CCC is preparing for the season ahead. This year (2021) we have received a significant increase in the number of teams entered in our competitions across both codes at Adult and Minor levels with a significant number of clubs entering more teams than any previous year.

With the increase in teams, combined with withdrawals due to Covid fears, age, etc. comes an additional requirement for new referees. We are already operating with insufficient referees and this increase in teams will put even more pressure on CCC being able to appoint referees for all games.

Without an increase in referee numbers CCC will be unable to guarantee referees for all games in the coming season.

CCC are asking you for three specific actions.

  1. Circulate this request for new referees to all your members via your normal communication channels (email, social media etc).
  2. Confirm the date (no later than Friday 26th February 2021) back by email to An Rúnaí CCC that you circulated this request to your members.
  3. Advise CCC by Friday 12 March, of the names and details of your members who are interested in becoming referees.

Upon receipt of these names Coiste na Réiteoirí will run a Foundation (Beginners) Course as soon as Public Health advice allows.

Is Mise,

Seán MacNiocláis.

Rúnaí CCC Átha Cliath.
