Lucan Sarsfields GAA Club Notes

June 18, 2020

There are plenty of things happening behind the scenes as our Gaelic Games organisations get ready for the next phase of re-opening.

This is scheduled to commence on June 29, subject to satisfactory progress being made in the reduction of incidences of the coronavirus on the island of Ireland.

There was a webinar “Safe Return to Gaelic Games” held on June 16, which is available to playback on http://learning.gaa.ie, the purpose of this was to communicate the safe return guidelines, explain the key roles and responsibilities within each club, and to address common questions.

As all the guidelines are considered ‘Works in progress”, The executive of Lucan Sarsfields GAA Club will, in the coming week, produce our club guidelines detailing each step and the actions to be taken by players, mentors, referees, parents and spectators to prepare for returning to training on 29 June.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

In order to ensure a smooth progression to training and games, it is essential that all players and mentors are members of the club, otherwise they cannot be registered and will not be covered under the player injury fund and may not be allowed to recommence training with their team.

Please go to the membership renewal section of the club website: http://www.lucansarsfields.ie/content_page/370673/ or download and use the ClubForce App on your mobile device.

Also this week, the GAA announced new plans for the 2020 Cúl Camps. A big part of this is the Cúl Camps TV programme airing on TG4 getting the kids warmed up from June 29. This first phase of camp activity will be broadcast Monday to Friday from 10.25 to 11.00am and repeated at 5.15pm from June 29 to July 17. It will also be available on the TG4 player making the return to camp activity, both live and on demand, available to everyone. (see here for more info: https://www.dublingaa.ie/news/gaa-announce-new-plans-for-2020-cul-camps-1). At the time of writing, there has been no decision made how many and which clubs will be hosting the Cúl Camps.

Congratulations to Miriam Wynne (Ladies Football) and family on the birth of her daughter, Emma on 17 June.

In case you missed the Joe O’Connor Movement and fitness videos, they have been collated and put on the Club website. The four videos will give players the right physical foundation for a return to collective training and playing. http://www.lucansarsfields.ie/content_page/10063652/

Registration is now open for the GAA’s seventh hurling specific webinar, 'Developing a Coaching Eye for Hurling', which takes place next Monday, June 22, at 8pm. This workshop will be a little different to our recent webinars. It is an attempt at encouraging coaches to actually “see what is in front of their eyes” – to look at a game or training session and note the positives and negatives. Hurling is such a fast game and so much goes on that it is easy to miss much of what is happening.  To register see this article on the GAA site
