Lucan Sarsfields GAA Club Notes

June 04, 2020

The Minister for Health, Simon Harris TD, recently visited the COVID-19 Community Testing Centre in Croke Park, and spoke about the hugely positive role played by GAA Clubs during the Covid19 Crisis. He said “I'm conscious that the GAA's involvement doesn't stop here in Croke Park. Right across the country so many clubs in all communities are involved in looking after each other. People doing the groceries and checking in on a socially distant way on an older neighbour and walking the dog of somebody who's self-isolating and coming together which I suppose is the very ethos of the GAA. I think it should make every member of the GAA very proud of their organisation.” Full Story Here

It looks likely that the GAA Covid-19 Advisory Group will be making the return-to-train, return-to-play protocol announcement early next week in line with the start of Phase 2 of the easing of restrictions. We hope to have more news on this, in next weeks’ newsletter.

Well done to the Dublin LGFA referees who held a charity Fun run on Saturday May 30th in aid of St Francis Hospice. Angela Gallagher, Tom Casserly and William Eakins, Lucan Sarsfields LGFA referees, took part to help raise over €5300, more than doubling the target of €2500!

Also in Ladies Football, the Leinster LGFA provincial council announced last week, that the adult 2020 Leinster Junior and Intermediate Championships are cancelled.  Full Story Here

A Couple of weeks ago, we mentioned that it is 25 years since our intermediate footballers were held to a draw in the county final. The replay was held on Friday evening, June 2nd, 1995 and Lucan Sarsfields won by the narrowest of margins, ensuring promotion to the Dublin Senior Ranks.

Also of note, on the previous weekend, it was reported in Cumann Na Sairsealaigh notes that the U14 Hurlers had won the Div 3 Feile, 4-4 to 1-0 against Raheny. This was the first Feile win by the club!! Were you on that team? Please share some of your memories, contact lucansarsfieldspro@gmail.com.
