Retirement of Liam Cuttle

April 22, 2019

On Easter Sunday night, Lucan Sarsfields marked the retirement of our Bar Manager, Liam Cuttle, who has been with us since 2002, with a very enjoyable function in the Club.  Present were Liam, his wife Celine and their sons, Ronan and Shane, as well as a large gathering of Liam’s many friends in Lucan Sarsfields.  Uachtarain an Chumainn, Kathleen Roche, paid a glowing tribute to Liam, acknowledging his calmness, his warm and engaging personality, and his exceptional approach to customer service.  As Bar Manager, Liam gave huge reassurance that the bar was in very good hands, so we could now concentrate on trying to win leagues and championships and growing our number of teams and facilities.

Liam never panicked irrespective of what crowds descended on the Clubhouse. He was a great people manager and patiently trained up many young club members on their bar duties. When closing up at night, it was not uncommon for him the leave the customers home.

Reliability and punctuality, a very friendly demeanour and avery obliging approach marked Liam out as a great problem-solver.  His temperament and friendly approach made for excellent relationships with people.  Nobody can remember a single argument Liam had since coming to work in the Club in 2002.

An Uachtarain thanked Liam for being a wonderful colleague, an excellent contributor to the Club’s achievements over 17 years, and for all the friendships he built up with Lucan Sarsfields people.  She made a presentation to Liam and Celine on behalf of Lucan Sarsfields and wished them and their family every health and happiness in retirement.

Liam thanked the Club for the presentation, describing his role as extremely enjoyable.  Both he and An Uachtarainacknowledged the key contribution of Cathy O’Neill in organising the retirement function.  After that, an evening of anecdotes, jokes and reminiscing followed.

Scor sona agus sláintiúil duit, a Liam.
