Lucan Sarsfields GAA Club Notes Sunday 05 August

August 05, 2018

A super win for our Senior footballers after being 5pts down at half time and playing into the wind for the second half, they dug out a 1point win vs St Vincents.  The Jnr B ladies footballers made it two from two in the group stages of Championship and have now qualified for the semi-final. On Tuesday evening at the 12th lock, the U-15B footballers had another great win in the Division 6 league defeating Clanna Gael Fontenoy on a score line of 3-14 to 1-08, and they now sit top of the league

Hard luck to our Lucan’s Dublin Senior Camogie players Ali Twomey, Orla Beagan, Mairi Moynihan and Emma Flanagan who lost out in the All Ireland quarter final against a very strong Galway team.

Juvenile Football Report

Many of the juvenile teams are now on their Summer breaks but the U-15B footballers continued to play some back matches in their league last week.

On Tuesday evening at the 12th lock, the U-15B footballers had another great win in the Division 6 league defeating Clanna Gael Fontenoy on a score line of 3-14 to 1-08.

This team now sits on top of the league with 5 wins and are 4 points clear of the second placed team. The team is really progressing and credit is due to Stephen O’Neill and his management team for preparing the team so well so far this year.

Well done to all the teams competing at the weekend.

Adult Football Report

Adult Football Division 1

Lucan Sarsfields 1-15

St. Vincents 1-14

Lucan got off to a good start scoring the first 2 points of the game but St Vincents came back fairly quickly to level things up at 2-2. The teams traded points until a Mossy Quinn goal for St Vincents put them ahead by 3 points. The goal was a big blow to Lucan as they had been playing well and they could not get to grips with St Vincents for the rest of the 1st half going in at the half time break 5 points down 1-7 to 0-5.

It was going to be a tough ask for Lucan 5 points down and into a strong breeze in the 2nd half to the County Champions. But raise their game they did with 6 points on the trot and a goal from half time substitute Harry Ladd Lucan found themselves 4 points up with 10 minutes still to go. St Vincents were not going to lie down and clawed their way back to make it level at 1-14 each going into injury time. With the game deep into injury time Lucan had one last attack and a sweet pass from Conor Heffernan to Jack Carey who just needed one chance to put the ball over the bar sealed it for the home side.
