We got back up and running quickly after the snow following a massive effort from the volunteers clearing the snow off the Astro, so a big thanks to all who helped over the two nights.

After Storm Emma halted all action last week, we did get back up and running this weekend, although not all games made it as pitches were still carrying the affects. Good wins across the boys football with wins for 15A and B. 14As also had a big win over Na Fianna and made it 3 from 3 in the league. 14B lost out narrowly. 13B had a convincing win. Full Juvenile Football report at bottom of the page. In Camogie 15A had a great two point win away vs Castleknock, 13A drew and 13B had a narrow one point win over Ballyboden. In Ladies football a super 2pt win for the 16A team away from home vs Ballyboden and 14B team had a convincing win as well. Minor Footballers drew vs Na Fianna; playing after Our Senior hurlers, who back in Division 1 lost to NaFianna. Our third hurling team also lost away from home to Parnells. The Jnr A game was postponed due to pitch conditions. Full Adult hurling reports below.

Juvenile Football Report
A number of games were called off this weekend due to the recent snow and waterlogged pitches.

In the U-13 Football Grading League Division 6, Lucan had a great win v St. Sylvesters by 14-8 to 1-03. A very good all round performance with even some defenders getting up for scores with Aidan Barry scoring 1-1 and Josh Delaney and Dillon Ryan both getting a goal from the half back line.

U-14 League Division 1

Lucan Sarsfields 6-11

Na Fianna 2-08

The U14A boys played their first home game on the Juvenile Pitch on a lovely day considering the weather of late. The football did not disappoint either. Playing into a stiff breeze towards the senior pitch, Lucan went into a quick 2 point lead. With their first real attack Na Fianna won a penalty in which our goalkeeper and our defender collided in bravely attempting to prevent a goal chance. The penalty was dispatched and Na Fianna took the lead. However this was not to last long as Lucan came back immediately with a well worked goal almost immediately from the kick out. This was the one and only time Na Fianna led Lucan as the boys pressed home their effort and desire to win every ball and punish any loose play from the visitors. Going into the second half Lucan continued to pile on the pressure and eased to a well deserved win 6-11 to 2-08 win.

In the U-14 Division 7 league, Lucan lost out narrowly on a score line of 5-5 to 4-4 to Fingallians.

In the U-15 Division 3 League, Lucan had a well deserved win against Naomh Barrog on a score line of 2-13 to 1-09. This was a great team performance with seven different scorers for the Lucan team.

In the U-15 Division 6 league, Lucan beat St. Sylvesters on a score line of 5-08 to 1-08 in an excellent performance. This was this team’s first outing of the season due to the weather as all the other rounds of the league where cancelled. Lucan started the game a little nervous but soon settled and showed great football skills in their movement on and off the ball. They were especially strong on the kick outs and won a lot of possession. Lucan went in to the first half winning but at the start of the second half Sylvesters took some quick scores. Lucan soon settled again through and continued closing down the opposition, The Lucan boys were starting to tire as the second half wore on but held on for a well deserved win.

Well done to all the teams competing at the weekend.

Adult Hurling Report

League defeats for our Senior and Junior B hurlers this week. The seniors were well beaten by a strong Na Fianna side, while the Junior Bs were unlucky to go down to a last minute goal against Parnell's.

AHL1 Na Fianna 2-15 Lucan Sarsfields 0-10.
Lucan travelled to Mobhi Road for their first competitive game of the year but the hosts proved too strong and comfortably claimed the points. Na Fianna started well and soon had an early goal and a sizeable lead as Lucan failed to convert some good chances at the other end. Na Fianna had a second goal by the 20th minute and by half time lead by 2-8 to 0-6. Lucan's problems were compounded by the loss of Seanie McClelland who suffered a nasty facial injury. The second half was a bit scrappy and though Lucan tried hard, they could never close the gap. A late penalty gave Lucan a chance to put a better gloss on the scoreline but the Na Fianna goalkeeper saved well and repeated the feat when it was directed to be retaken. Na Fianna ran out comfortable winners in the end.
Lucan Team/Scorers: K Roche, P Smith, B Aird, M May, R Stapleton, M McCaffrey, S McClelland, R Ward, R Smith, B Coffey (0-1), K Fitzgerald, C Dowling (0-3, 0-1f), A Roche (0-3), T Somers, K O'Reilly (0-3, 0-1f). Subs used: L Walsh, P Rigney, E Lombard.

AHL8 Parnells 2-7 Lucan Sarsfields 0-11.
Lucan fielded with an inexperienced team (with a few notable exceptions) and put in a great team effort, especially in the second half. Lucan lead by a point in the last minute before Parnells forced home a scrambled goal to claim the points.
Lucan Team: E Kyne, A Foley, S Farrell, P Murtagh, S Stapleton, J Cavanagh, S O'Keefe, I Crowley, D Ryan, K Boylan, M Doyle, T Swords, T Heffernan, M Quaid, J Lakes.
