Senior Footballers vs Fingallians

April 14, 2014

Senior footballers vs Fingallians April 12th , 12th Lock.

Our Senior Footballers lined out on a beautiful spring evening in the 12th Lock against an unbeaten Fingallians side looking to go top of Division 2.   The initial tussles were toughly contended with both teams anxious to claim the opening score.  In the end it a Brendan Gallager point at the end of an excellent Lucan move that gave the scoreboard man his first click.

The Lucan side continued to play a fast flowing brand of football and it wasn’t long until Stephen Garbutt doubled the home team’s account after 7 minutes.  The Fingallian’s side playing into the All Weather end scored from a free following the breakdown on another Luacn attack.  However, it was between the  15th and 20th minute that the balance of this game turned in Lucan’s favour with a brace of goals from Gallagher and McHugh.

The visitors continued to press and there efforts were rewarded with a high free count, 3 of which were converted before the interval along with 2 fine points from play.  Brendan Gallaher led the Lucan attack with a point from play and 1 from a free to leave the score Lucan 2-4 Fingallians 0-6 at the break.

Lucan continued where there left off in the first with the first 2 scores in the second half.  The first from that man Gallagher, the second from James O’’Neill.  With 10 minutes to go Finns pulled back a goal which left 2 between the sides.  The large home support were encouraged to get behind their Team and that they did with Lucan outscored their opponents 4 points to 2 in the last 10 of the game.  The final 2 scores coming from the boot of Stephen Garbutt crowning a fine individual performance.
