21st September Lucan 4-9 Crumlin 1-2. After a scoreless 15 minutes Conor Toolin put the ball in the net to put us in front, Crumlin replied with a point but Lucan found form and scores from Barry Torsney, Niall Smith and Blain Curtis put us ahead by 2-4 to 0-1 by half time. The bleak Crumlin scoreline due in no small measure to the powerfull defensive work by the Lucan backs who all played with great conviction, full back Bill Malone was impressive and made some great clearances. Ray Dowling also had a great game at centre half back. At midfield Blain Curtis and David Courtney contested every ball and made life very difficult Crumlin.  We continued to dominate for the second half  scoring 2-5 to Crumlin's 1-1 making us convincing winners at the final whistle

14th September 2002 Lucan 4-3 Bray Emmets 3-8

Bray were first on the scoreboard with a point in the first five minutes, Lucan replied immediately with a goal from David Courtney.  The first half continued to go Lucan's way with more scores from David Courtney and Noel Larkin putting Lucan ahead by 4-3 to 0-5 at half time.  Bray came out strong in the second half and for the first 10 minutes laid siege to the Lucan goal. Lucan withstood the attack and Niall Smith got the first score for Lucan in the second half putting the ball in the Bray net.  Bray turned on the pressure once more and finally the scores started to come for them scoring 3-3 before the final whistle giving them a 2 point victory.  Although the outcome was  disappointing for Lucan it was a very competitive and exciting game to watch.

7th September 2002  Lucan Sarsfields 18-8 Naomh Olaf 2-0
Playing against a strong breeze in the first half, after about 10 minutes of pressure Lucan took of the game against this team from Naomh Olaf who were not on form on the day. At half time we led by 8-4 to 1-0, the scores continued to come during the second half.  Naomh Olafs put together some good attacks and showed great character in the way that they fought hard until the end, but the combination of our back line and goalie Ben Egan made scores very elusive for them.  All played very well, outstanding performance from Derek Whiston, Blain & Stephen Curtis, David Courtney and  Conor Toolan.  This win in the first game of this season's league must be a good omen for things to come.
