Lucan Sarsfields 14/B football team travelled to Clonmore in Carlow for their first game last Friday in Feile Peil Na nOg and in a low scoring game they beat the home team by a point to get Lucan off to the start they wanted. It was then on to the opening parade in Arklow with all 144 teams talking part and what a great sight it was all the teams in their club colours. Leaving Lucan at 7:30a.m on Saturday morning we travelled for the next two games to Kiltegan playing the home team of Michael Dwyers. Lucan won this game 6-8 to 1-1. It was very good game with some excellent play by Lucan. Our last game was against a strong team from Yorkshire (St Benedicts) a must win game for us. The team from Clonmore were looking on hoping that Lucan would lose and that they would win the group. But that was not the case in another thrilling game it was Lucan who won 2-7 to 1-1.After wining all their group games it was Lucan who progressed into the semi-final to be played in Tinahely on Saturday evening. The convoy of cars headed to Tinahely to play San Francisco (Continental Youths Champions) in the semi-final but that is where the dream of bringing a National Feile title back to Lucan ended losing to the eventual winners of the Division. After the game a very disappointed D.Mylod had to take part in the skills competition, where he came second. All the parents just like the mentors can be very proud of this team and the way they played and conducted themselves over the two days. The under 14/B football team took part in this years feile over the May bank holiday weekend and played their games in St Vincent's. Their first match was against Na Fianna  in a very competitive game with Lucan winning 2-6 to 0-4 the start Lucan wanted . Next was Robert Emmets a game which Lucan lead by a point at half time but won in the end easily 8-6 to 4-2.The third was a cracker against the home team who had massive support on the line where the lads showed what they were made of by winning this game by one point 3-7 to 4-3 and topping the group .In the semi final Lucan played St Margaret's in another trilling game down by 2 goals at half time Lucan came back to level the game early on in the second half. But St Margaret's got 2 more points and this result was to end our part in Feile. Many thanks to our supporters and sponsor's M.V.O'Halloran, Helen Dowling from Kid Start Pre-School, and David Ryan and all the good luck wishes we got from everyone in the club over the last few weeks. Special thanks also to Roisin and Ralf Becker for the hot food back in the clubhouse on Saturday upon our return.
