After a few close encounters in recent weeks, Lucan Sarsfields managed to win a county Championship with their Minor 'A' winning the Minor B championship. It was never going to be easy as they faced Ballinteer St Johns who had beaten them in the round robin series. The game in O Toole park started at a very fast pace and although Lucan played against the wind, they started the strongest with 2 pts from Darra Mylod.  However using the wind to their advantage Ballinteer started making their mark and scored 3 pts in steady intervals through the early stages. This was quickly followed up by a Ballinteer goal.

Lucan replied immediately with a well worked pass through the middle by Rory Kelly and the final pass to Stephen Garbutt hit the net to keep Lucan in the game. Ballinteer added another point before Owen Ennis broke from defence and slotted over to leave 1 point between the sides at the interval. Half time Lucan 1-3 St Johns 1-4. Ballinteer open the second half the brightest and score 2 quick points before Lucan played a quick ball through the forwards and were awarded a penalty when Emmet O’ Conghaile was fouled inside the square. Darra Mylod had the courage to step up, and fired the penalty to top left corner of the net to level the scores. This was followed by a brace of point for Emmet O’ Conghaile and a goal from Rory Kelly and another point from O’ Conghaile to leave Lucan well in control.

However not to be outdone, Ballinteer replied with a goal and tapped on 3 quick points to level the game. Ballinteer continued to apply pressure and a superb block by Lucan's Laurenc Alia started the winning move. After the block the balled was cleared by Brian Mullarkey to Kieran Mc Hugh, who passed diagonally to Emmet O’ Conghaile who passed to David Courtney who was fouled 23 yards out from goal. Stephen Garbutt pointed and the celebrations began as final whistle blew from the resulting kick out.

Barry Torsney Team Captain received the Cup in front of a fantastic group of Lucan Sarsfields Supporters.
